With each performance boasting superb musicianship and a sound sure to leave audiences in pure admiration of the talent on-stage, these afternoon gigs are the perfect entertainment for audiences of all ages.

The Line Up:

BAIANA: 3pm, 17.07.21

Born in Liverpool and blessed in Rio, Baiana is the band with the totally tropical twist, bringing the music, glamour and charm of vintage Brazilian jazz and pop to every show. Think classic Bossa Novas, seductive sambas and Latin-inspired arrangements of well-known standards. The band has played sold-out shows in London’s jazzland and got national coverage after a series of sell-out gigs at the Edinburgh Festival. Sometimes reflective, always full of passion, this will be an afternoon of infectious rhythm, superb musicianship, and beautiful song.

SWING COMMANDERS: 3pm, 24.07.21

The Swing Commanders are a stunningly vibrant and versatile group that perform an exciting mix of 1940s Classics, Boogie-Woogie, Western Swing, 50’s Jump Jazz and more! Every member of the Swing Commanders sings and plays at least one instrument, sometimes three! Yet what makes them stand out even above their incredible music ability and performing skills is their joie-de-vivre. People who experience the band for the first time are amazed at the energetic showmanship, the instrument swapping, the intricate arrangements, and sophisticated vocal blend.

JOHN HAYCOCK – POLLY VIRR: 3pm & 4pm, 01.08.21

Presenting two back-to-back performances from two of our favourite solo musicians and loop pedal artists.

John Haycock is a multi instrumental live looping artist passionate about affecting acoustic sounds with electronics exploring new sonority. John takes his home made kora (21 string African Harp) and runs it through a series of electronic devices creating lush soundscapes and solid beats, overlaying this with woodwind instruments. Bridging the gap between ancient West African Folk melodies and modern electronica, visiting influences from hip-hop to house to dub along the way, John’s sound is something truly special.

Polly Virr uses the unique combination of her cello and electronic loops to take you on an evocative, cinematic journey exploring natural landscapes and phenomena, featuring Polly’s original compositions. Using live looping and other effects, Polly will build and create her tracks live on stage, with the audience immersed in this process. Her music draws upon classical, folk, jazz and film musical influences to create a new and exciting sound world.

Full Tilt Collective are an 8-piece brass-heavy band playing an eclectic range of genres including funk, soul, rock, reggae, ska, hip hop and drum and bass. Influenced by the likes of Hot 8 Brass Band, Funkadelic, Toots and the Maytals and Sly and the Family Stone, frontman and founder Nathan Thomas was inspired to start the band following a road trip from New Orleans to Nashville. With members of the Collective including graduates of Guildhall and Trinity Colleges of music, much of the band has a background in jazz music, resulting in bombastic solos to complement their heady riffs and raucous live show.
